Challenge of the Week

3 07 2006

If we want to drive the divorce statistics down, we need to turn outward and help that happen all around us.  So, here is the challenge for this week.

  • Boycott Soap Operas
  • Get the word out on this site and others like it.

Like pornography, people who waste hours each week on soap operas program their minds to react instinctively in ways that are destructive to a family, and we see the soap opera mentality transferred to our children.  We see it in their babysitters and we see it lived out in the lives of those around us.

Secondly, these web sites are not about a PhD in an office giving counseling or a divorce attorney, but these sites are about normal ordinary people who care and want to make a difference.  Some, like me, have gone through painful divorces and that has enabled us to understand others who go through the same pain.  We know about the injustices and the harm divorce does because we have experienced it first hand.

Some of the other web sites I have been working on have much more material and have been around a lot longer.

Please link to these and consider putting your favorite into your email signature if you are interested in getting involved in this effort.

Thank you!!!

Wedding Ceremony Preparation

1 03 2006

Are you getting married soon?  If so, congratulations!!!

Here are some items that can help take a tremendous load of stress off the preparations and reduce costs!

Note:  The focus on this page is on preparing for the wedding ceremony rather than preparing for marriage which is even more important.

Planning Guide

The first thing you will need to do is to get or create a good wedding planning guide.  Couples are usually startled by all the details involved in planning a wedding, and too often couples become stressed unnecessarily.

Relax!!!  A good guide is vital to help reduce stress, reduce costs, and feel confident that nothing is being forgotten.  Enjoy the planning and enjoy the day and tell yourself no matter what, this marriage is a blessing and no goof-up will take your happiness away.

Here are some planning guides to help you get started:

There is no law that says you cannot have more than one planning guide or checklist and work two or three of them. The idea is to know what you’re doing and do it confidently with joy and without stress.

Wedding Vows

Sooner or later you will need to consider the vows or promises you will make to one another.  How do you want to say them?  Do you want to call on the couples in the congregation to renew the vows and repeat along with you?

Here are some guides to help you create your own vows or select vows you like.

Here’s a T-shirt and some clothing you may enjoy wearing to tell the world of your love and faithfulness:

What kind of theme do you want for your wedding?  Unsure?  Would you like some ideas to start the creative juices flowing through your minds?  Here is a good e-book to help you get started.

Speech!  Speech!

Do speeches make you uneasy?  Are you nervous about what the best man or the maid of honor might say or how they might say it?  Here are some e-books that cover all types of wedding speeches and help bring confidence to those speaking!

Personal Wedding Web Site

I personally do not need this service because, well, I design my own web sites.  But, here is a company that specializes in personal wedding websites!
